Frequently Asked Questions
Does it hurt?
This is usually the first question that people ask. The answer is yes. Having needles pierce your skin hurts. The proper question is 'How much does it hurt, and can I handle it?' It's not nearly as bad as what you might imagine. The pain comes from the cluster of needles on the tattooing machine piercing your skin rapidly. This sensation, however, doesn't feel like the pain of an injection - it's more of a constant vibration. You will be amazed at how quickly your body releases endorphins, which dulls the pain significantly.
How should I prepare for my Tattoo session?
Make sure you are well rested, well hydrated, and have eaten recently. Aside from that, take a shower, charge your phone or tablet up to full, or perhaps bring some good magazines.
Can my Tattoo get infected?
Not as long as you take care of it, and we provide all the aftercare you'll need. We have excellent afercare and use a protective, breathable film that heals your tattoo in much easier, painless and fuss free way. Please ask us for more details on this if you wish.
How long does it take to heal?
The majority of your new tattoos healing process will be done within the first two weeks. However, the skin is still working to heal and rejuvenate and you need to plan on a 4-6 weeks for your skin to be back to its previous state.
Why do you require a deposit?
What should I wear?
It’s more important to be comfortable than to be fashionable. Looser is better than tighter, and keep in mind you want to be able to cover up certain places that might show, depending on where you're getting your tattoo.
Can you fix my old tattoo?
Old tattoos can be easily reworked into a fresh work of art. Color can be added to brighten your existing tattoo or with a little creativity even turned into a completely new (although larger) tattoo.
Is it safe?
A Two Magpies tattoo is put on under the strictest of sanitary conditions. Every instrument is new before going into a high pressure, high temperature autoclave for approximately one hour. Everything is disposed of after every tattoo, and the entire area sanitized.
What else should I consider?
Don’t bring your kids or an entourage, bring all of the necessary documentation, good work costs money, eat before you come in, your idea may not be able to be tattooed, do not consume any alcohol (this can thin your blood and effect the final outcome) and you must be 18 or over.
